Winnipeg Indigenous activist speaks on child welfare settlement

Winnipeg activist Michael Redhead Champagne spoke to Global News about the $20 billion settlement that was announced by the federal government July 2022. Champagne teaches us what organizations and individuals can do to help Indigenous people, which includes providing financial literacy and mental health resources that are trauma informed. Watch Champagne's conversation with Global News linked above to learn more.

This settlement is meant to help Indigenous children and families effected by chronic underfunding for child welfare systems on reserve. This includes survivors of the sixties scoop, residential schools, and others effected by the child welfare system. Champagne’s conversation with Global News has informed us that we can help through providing access to financial literacy resources for Indigenous youth.
