Apply for the $500 Canada Housing Benefit Top Up

Apply for a one-time payment of $500 to help with rent through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). If your household income is less than $20,000/year for an individual, or less than $35,000/year for a family, you may meet the eligibility criteria and qualify for the one-time top up.

How do I Apply?

Have the following information available:

• Addresses of where you lived in 2022
• Total amount of rent you paid in 2022
• Name and contact information of who you paid rent to

2. Online application (this may take 6-10 business days)
3. Phone application at 1-800-282-8079 (this may take 7-11 business days)
